Adornit Summer Blog Party & Blog Hop

This two-page layout is based on a sketch I created. I freehanded the 'water' shape. It's made using Hot Off The Press' Pool Water paper. I free-handed the lines using a Marvy marker in light teal. The orange brads are just regular large brass brads that can be found at an office supply store. I coated them with Colorbox orange pigment ink. Then coated in clear embossing powder and heat set. I repeated the ink and embossing again to add a layer to give the brad a little more solid coloring. The title is created using ColorBok's alpha die cuts. I used adhesive to attach the letters to the orange cardstock. Then I outlined the letters using a Zig 005 marker. Finally, I cut out the title using both X-Acto knife and scissors.  This was inspired by Kristina Werner's Thank You card which you can see here. The background stripe paper is from an 8-sheet Sunny Days Collection scrapbooking paper set found in the dollar section of Target stores. I placed a self-adhesive 8 1/2 x 11 vellum sheet under the water element and title.  Enjoy.

What's New Wednesday - EK Success Border Punches

Okay, first, I need to tell you I have not been paid to promote EK Success products. But, I'm sure it'll seem like an infomercial, because I LOVE them.

You can can view all the new punches here.

The punches lock shut for stackable storage and each punch is labeled so you can easily find the one you're looking for.  More punches, less space. Can you hear the Hallelujah chorus?

The patterns are diverse. There's everything from bats, to dinosaurs, to scallops.

Let me know what you think.

SBS Challenges

Have you ever heard of a SBS Challenge? I hadn't. It stands for Step-by-Step. Basically, every day the challenge leader will give you one step to complete for the day. When all steps are complete, you have a completed layout without feeling overwhelmed or having to set aside a large block of time.

Best of all, the directions are generally very detailed, so if you're a newbie scrapbooker your page will look just as good as the scrapbooking pros.

Check out a SBS challenge at the The Scrap Witch

Go get creative today!
